The Corner Drop-in Employment Program

The Corner Drop-in Employment Program provides support, employment readiness and job matching services for those wanting to gain employment. We help with the hiring process by matching qualified participants from our Corner Drop-in with employers.

The Program specializes in working with people living with mental health concerns and/or complex substance use issues. By participating in the Program, people get connected to employment, volunteering and educational opportunities.

How does it work?

The process is simple: We work with our candidates to ensure that they are ready to work. That means our Job Developer and Employment Worker ensure the candidates have defined their employment goals and work plans, and have received pre-employment training. Then we match their plans and skills with employer requirements. Even after our candidates are hired, we help train them and support them for as long as they need.

How does it help people in need?

Participants in the program receive:

  • a steady source of income

  • increased self-confidence

  • the ability to re-integrate into the community

How does it help employers?

  • Reduced hiring costs
    • Pre-screened candidates
    • Use of facilities for interviews and job fairs
  • Increased employee retention
  • Trained successful candidates
  • Post-hiring support
  • Consulting to increase business performance
  • Increased customer traffic

When you hire from the Corner Drop-in Employment Program, everybody wins.
