Better Jobs Ontario, a service provided by Employment Ontario, supports people who have become unemployed through lay-offs. We help you gain the skills and training you need to find a job in a new field where there is a demand.
You may be eligible if you:
-
Were laid off on or after Jan 1, 2005. This includes people who have finished a contract, are re-entering the labour force after maternity/parental benefits or have left work due to medical conditions.
-
Are currently unemployed. This includes people who work less than 20 hours per week, work in an interim or survival job after initial lay-off, or receive salary continuation or severance.
-
Show that there is a demand for the training request and show evidence of good employment prospects locally or within Ontario.
